A Typical Christian

Some ask, "How can I better serve God?"

We do not know your age, nor your religious history, and you yourself would be better able to pinpoint where you are at this moment.

Therefore we will look at a typical Christian.

There is of course a wide variety of the lives of godly men, and great differences in the environments and backgrounds of people, so we cannot attempt to cover multiple situations.

Awakening

Some time or other he read or heard about Jesus Christ who gave his life** for him.

Then one day he came to the realisation that he was an absolute failure**;
that before the brightness and purity of God he was filthy;
that one day he would be judged before God for the life he led;
that he needed God's mercy if he were ever to play a part in the Kingdom of God.

He believed the words of Jesus Christ and committed** himself in his own mind to serve God the rest of his days, even if one day it may cost him his life.

Commitment

Being of a suitable mature age he was baptised in water to symbolise the burial of his old life, and coming up out of the water symbolised the beginning of a new life.

Immediately after baptism a man of long-standing Christian character continually showing the fruits of God's Spirit, laid hands on him, and through belief in Jesus Christ he received the Holy Spirit from God.

So he became a member of the true church of God - that group of believers sprinkled across all the world, some of them attending various Christian churches.

He had become a part of the very Family of God - destined to rule all things.

Christian Life

He regularly met with other Christians honouring God the Father and Jesus Christ. He supported the group where necessary, and where he was able, with his time and money.

Except in extenuating circumstances he spoke to God privately every day. He studied the Bible daily and taught his own family all the things he learned.

He was diligent in his daily job because he had bills to pay, and he led an honest life.

He was of a generous nature, and when he prospered he shared some of his prosperity with those he saw in need of help.

Being a Son of God, God continually worked with him and moulded him. This was not always pleasant, and in addition he made many mistakes big and small, but he never gave up.

Christian Death

With an honest heart he strove to remain on the path to the very end.

Resurrection

He died but he will live again at the return of Jesus Christ and the wonderful first resurrection.
