Called To Be God ?

God works. He is busy. He is developing expansive plans which he has in mind for the universe(s).

With studied purpose he forethought how man would look. With loving care he created Adam, with joy and anticipation he fashioned Eve his helper.

When men first walked they didn't suffer excruciating agony from improperly evolved leg joints. They ate without intense burning sensations in their digestive systems. All the stomach fluids matched and smoothly complemented each other.

God bothers himself with man who is but flesh and blood, whose life is so easily extinguished by a toppling building, or a turbulent ocean. His life is just a breath or two. From a few miles out in space you cannot even see us we are so small.

However he gives us an inkling of what he had in mind when, in the days of Noah, he called men "Sons of God" - and that was at a time when men's minds were saturated with evil.

Gen 6:2-3

God got close and personal and friendly to some of these tiny creatures, e.g. Abraham, Moses, Daniel, and others.

The most basic questions of the universe have to be, "Why is there anything at all ? Why isn't there just 'nothing' ?" Yet we know by personal experience that there are things. There is stuff, and we marvel at it all.

There had to be a marvellous bridge between 'nothing', and the miracles we see around us. Only a blind man could say that there is no design, and if there is design who could be that designer ?

We are part of something big. Men have never dreamt of the future in store for them, it is beyond description. This world purposely keeps our heads down, busy and preoccupied.

In Old Testament times God said we are Gods.

Ps 82:6
"I said, 'You are "gods";
you are all sons of the Most High.'

How can this be ?

The Message of The Kingdom of God

Jesus came to us on earth teaching the Kingdom of God.

Jesus invited us to be one with him and with his Father.

He invites men to be his brothers.

If we were to be one with Jesus, who is one with God, we would have God as our Father, and Jesus would be called our brother, and we would be part of the family of God.

The FBI

A householder heard a bit of a commotion outside - the sound of more than one motor car - multiple footsteps on the driveway.

He got up, opened the frontdoor and asked what was going on.

Deception

Man does not understand the purpose for his life. When Jesus came revealing he was the Son of God we hated and despised him as a fool. When he revealed that God destined us to be Gods, Satan so easily inflamed us to try to seize him and kill him for blasphemy.

We are deceived into seeking status and the admiration of others (Mat 6. 1-), while at the same time believing we are overgrown monkeys, the children of a pond of warm mud with a dash or two of lightning.

God showed so much mercy, longsuffering and kindness to Israel he thought they would call him Father, a family name.

You Are Gods !

What would Jesus have said about Psalm 82 saying that we are gods ? Actually he did have a comment on this -

John 10:34-37    Blasphemy?  He said the Scripture cannot be broken.
"Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are gods'? 35 If he called them 'gods,' to whom the word of God came-and the Scripture cannot be broken- 36 what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, 'I am God's Son'?

If a man believes that the family of God can consist of only one Person, then he does not believe in Jesus Christ God's Son.

By faith in Jesus we can strive to honour our Father and serve our brothers. The warm pond of mud had no sons or daughters, or brothers or sisters.

Lift up your heads, God has great things in store for you.  You are not called to a low life, but to accomplish great things.
